another Boss update

yesterday, i sent an email to my former coworkers from the architecture-firm-from-hell, hoping to have lunch with them on monday...for old times sake.

captain wrote back around four-twenty in the afternoon, indicating that he'd gotten sucked into a prolonged meeting with elle and Boss.

his reply also put a damper on my plans, since captain and elle were made aware that Boss was planning to cut the staff members down again.

my heart sank, since the method was almost like a russian roulette...only the person who held the partially loaded gun was the only one who would be unaffected. well, indirectly anyway.

so i waited.

knowing the played-out methods that Boss follows, i anticipated the plank walking to the conference room to occur around four-thirty. behind the cold glass doors, he would gesticulate his regret and excuse his actions with the "state of financial difficulties" speech. he would drone on and on redundantly. he would then see the doomed off with a handshake as though all of the abuse had never taken place.

i returned home from work with a heavy heart, and decided to retire early, since i was also suffering from symptoms of an oncoming cold or flu.

calling in sick this morning, i rested for another few hours until lunch. while i enjoyed Win's marvelous manhattan clam chowder made from scratch, i received a cell phone call from captain.

he wailed that he no longer had any lunch companions. Boss had let go: the front office staff (2 people), derek, and most shockingly, gucci.

gucci was the most unexpected cut, since he had always been considered to be Boss' right-hand man.

my feelings for this turn of events, is convoluted to say the least. i can't help but worry about them, but at the same time, am happy that they have been liberated from the tyranny. i am also somewhat happy that Boss is at his record low in business, because karma is finally coming back to bite the pretentious, self-important bastard in the arse.

the saddest thing, i guess, would be that i know i will lose touch with them. i can honestly say that those were the best of times and the worst of times in my life so far...really, how many times do your former coworkers come to celebrate your birthday with you?

i wish the best for gucci and derek. i hope to see them in the media in the future...gucci as a prominent designer, and derek as a successful actor, because i know they have talent.
