dennis the mennis

Boss hollers across the office when he feels especially egomaniacal. he ensures that every ear in this twelve person office, can hear his very superimportant president-y comments, stupid questions, unwanted advice, and terribly unamusing jokes.

this goes for when he has telephone conversations with clients as well. he typically faces the windowed wall, leans back into his chair, and stretches his short legs out in front of him as though they're much too long to fit under his desk. he carries his conversations on in high volumes, and cackles at inappropriate moments. he himself however, firmly believes that he is a witty, funny, charming, and wise individual...

gag me with a ...fork !

well anyway...

the other morning, he noticed that i was extremely grumpy when i handed him documents, so he was forced to ask his stupid questions to another victim in the office.

weatherman (his nickname amongst the office), was subjected to the following stupidity:

Boss: "hey, did you ever watch dennis the menace??"

WM: "yeah."

Boss: "how do you spell 'menace' ??"

- brief pause of disbelief -

WM: "M-E-N-A-C-E"

Boss: "huh, are you sure?? there isn't two 'N's in 'menace' ??"

WM: "there's only one."

Boss: "hmph...ok"

i'm actually still trying to figure out this particular behavior of his. what would possess someone to yell these inane questions across the room, when he sits comfortably in front of a laptop with MS Word open in front of him?? obviously, he's not aware of the miracle of spellchecking, or the dusty publication in the cabinet entitled, "dictionary".

i shake my head...although i'm bemused by the thought of him being convinced that the word is spelled, "mennis".
