my face contorted as i stood in line suppressing my laughter.

this morning started off too early...at least for my current work standards. i arrived at my place of employment, half an hour earlier than usual, believing that i was covering for the vacationing raver mommy. miscommunication led mommy two to believe the same. thus, coupled with poor (or lack of) management on the part of boss2, confusion sprung on whether overtime will be paid, or if both of us would be able to depart said place of employment at the same time. knowing upper management, we both knew that neither would be the case, because they need to protect their backsides from their even-higher-ups (who most likely sit around all day on their duffs criticizing their employees like what happens in most japanese companies).

working for no pay for half an hour was not very attractive, so i opted to acquire my usual caffeinated starbucks beverage.

once queued in the store, i couldn't help but notice the extremely tall caucasian business man standing in front of me. my five foot two self, was staring at the back of his hips. i was paranoid that he might turn around and try to palm my head.

my paranoia evaporated and was replaced by amusement when he ordered from the barista a, "tazo tai-chi latte".

her sharpie hesitated on the side of the cup before she repeated, "ok...a venti chai tea latte?", with nary a smirk. i admired that immensely.

so this minor faux pas is what has sustained me through my drab work day. when i think of the tai-chi latte, i can't help but giggle. i love starbucks.
